¡Grita! or WATcha!

Look Out For The Best Of Latin Rock This Summer

From August 1-15 Grita! bands ¡Viva Malpache! and Todos Tus Muertos join the United States’ first ever national Latin Rock Festival Tour. The Watcha Tour, envisioned by Vans Warped Tour producer Kevin Lyman, will be presenting the best of the burgeoning Latin Rock scene to crowds 3,500-10,000 daily along its coast to coast excursion. ¡Viva Malpache! will be traveling the entire tour, sharing a tour bus with Aztlan Records’ Los Mocosos. The two bands, along with Todos Tus Muertos are the only Independent label artists represented on the tour. It makes sense though. Grita! and Aztlan were the first labels in North America to begin working exclusively with the development of Latin Rock..

¡Viva Malpache!, which formed in 1997, has become a major staple in the domestic Latin Rock scene. They released their debut album, "Los Greatest Hits" on Grita! in this past March and have quickly achieved critical acclamation for their album and their outrageous live performances. Due to the cultural diversity of ¡Viva Malpache!’s members, the band’s music has many distinct influences mixing Hip-Hop, Funk, Ska, and Punk with the new wave of Latin Rock. The musicians’ have come together from such disparate places as Nicaragua, China, The Dominican Republic, Mexico, New York and Los Angeles.

Hailing from Argentina, Todos Tus Muertos has proven that music is the universal language. With two albums, "Dale Aborigen +" (an interactive Enhanced CD) and "Argentina Te Asesina" (a live album) on Grita!, TTM continues to cross cultural boundaries for all audiences. The band formed in the late ‘80’s naming themselves for the over 30,000 people killed in Argentina by government death squads during the previous decade. TTM fills the void of the post-post-punk era providing a continuation of something to fight for. Their music crosses Bob Marley, Bad Brains, and The Clash coupling Punk-Reggae and Rap with African tribal rhythms. Two members (Fidel Nadal & Pablo "Dron kit Master") were a part in the groundbreaking political band, Mano Negra.

Don’t miss ¡Viva Malpache!, Todos Tus Muertos, Los Mocosos along with Atomic Fireballs, Bersuit, Café Tacuba, Chris Perez Band, Control Machete, Enanitos Verdes, Fishbone, Illya Kuriaki, Molotov, Puya, Union 13 and select special guests for limited segments of the tour.
