Everybody knows that 1998 is the year of "El Niño".  And now, 10 months after the release of "De Tiempo En El Momento De La Explosión" ('Of the Time In the Moment of The Explosion'), Grita! is proud to offer the brand new (14 song) album from NIÑOS CON BOMBAS, titled "El Niño".  This new album is truly a special relase which demonstrates that the the talents of this group is more than a one-time lucky shot.  With tons of stand-out tracks, our favourites include "Lee Mi Poesia" ('Read My Poetry') , "Ballenas Haciendo Amor"  ('Whales Making Love'), "Ton Ego Nest Pas Toi" ('You're Not Your Ego'), etc.

The new album was produced by Thies Mynter, the scientist/keyboardist /sequencer from German electronic group STELLA.  (El Niño is due out in June, 1998 but you can hear it now via Liquid Audio below). Thies lived with the NIÑOS for three months in Berlin, and used to mix NIÑOS CON BOMBAS’ live shows.  He brought his electronic wizardry, vision and atmospherics to the NIÑOS’ music, and, according to Daniel "enhanced the Rock sound in a very elegant and Latin way."  The new album was recorded in five days and in the two weeks following, Thies and the band experimented with loads of underground, background musical overdubs, and Daniel's guitars on overload. When the record was finished, they listened, and "it was just like...'FUCK!'  Like a bomb, like an explosion!" As only a band called NIÑOS CON BOMBAS are capable - German sounds from the head with Latin music from the gut, NIÑOS CON BOMBAS are a band to end the 90’s and usher in an unconscious journey into communication and sound. Those that know the 7-song EP "De Tiempo En El Momento De La  Explosión" , NCB's avant-premiere from GRITA!, love their brand of Latin-Jazzy-Punk energy that has exploded around Europe and Latin America and has attracted tons of attention in America too.

NIÑOS CON BOMBAS, a trio based in Hamburg, Germany, personify the Grita! multi-cultural ethic with members from Chile, Brazil and Germany, singing in Spanish, Portuguese, English and German, with a little French thrown in for thrills.  They sing about poverty and fame from firsthand experience.  Their Ska-tinged Jazz-Punk-Cabaret delivers memorable hooks in a truly unique package of fancy rawking energy that only a band with distinctly different personalities could offer.
 
NIÑOS CON BOMBAS began in Santiago, Chile, where singer/guitarist and songwriter Daniel Puente, and his ex-band, Pinochet Boys, an infamous Punk Rock band, drew not only the attention of a major fan base, but the auth too, landing in jail on many occasions.  After a two year odyssey traveling in São Paulo, Madrid, London and ending in Berlin, Daniel saw Brazilian bass player and graduated biologist Alex Menck in an empty Berlin club, playing bad renditions of Rolling Stones songs.  An entire year  passed before Daniel and Alex started writing songs.  One week before their first gig, they met German drummer Norman Jankowsky, who came from a well-known heavy metal band called Seven Seals.  Fast and precise, he was the perfect compliment, and NIÑOS CON BOMBAS was born: the slightly introverted Chilean band leader (Daniel), and the Brazilian Latin lover (Alex), with the necessary vision to calm down the energetic and sexy German Norman) in hyperactive moments. 

 On De Tiempo En El Momento De La  Explosión, songs like "Postcard" reveal the bombastic style variations that are unique to the NIÑOS sound, as they fly from Jazzy Latin plectrum plucking to a monstrous guitar riff in the blink of an eye.  Lyrically, NIÑOS CON BOMBAS are fun and to the point (And then I wish that I, that I was hip and hype, I want to be in this scene just to break it, to shake it, to lick it and squeeze it too.  I’ve seen that face before, it’s me famous wanting more, another bomb explodes, it’s melting, it’s boiling, it’s spoiling and kicking...from ‘Anarco Salsa’ [‘Anarchistic Salsa’])

Una semana antes de su primer show, conocieron al baterista Alemán Norman Jankowsky, quien venia de la banda de metal Seven Seals. rápidos y Precisos , el  era el complemento perfecto, Y NIÑOS CON BOMBAS nació; el levemente introvertido líder chileno (Daniel), Y el latín lover Brasileño (Alex), Con la visión necesaria de calmar al insoportable pero sexy alemán (Norman) en movimientos hiper-activos.
